🟣 Purple Helmet News: The Great Red Bull Escape (Now Featuring GP Doing a Runner)
Share
There’s something going on at Red Bull.
And it’s not “fine margins” or “marginal gains” or whatever corporate buzzword they’re hiding behind this week.
It’s a mass evacuation.
The latest one to grab his pass and sprint for daylight? Gianpiero Lambiase — better known as GP. The only man on Earth capable of calmly handling Max Verstappen mid-race without simply hanging up the radio and going home.
He’s off. McLaren. 2028.
And honestly… you can’t even blame him.
🚪 The Milton Keynes Fire Drill (Still Ongoing)
Because GP isn’t the story.
He’s just the latest name on what’s becoming a worryingly long list of people who’ve looked around, gone “hmm… nah,” and headed for the nearest exit.
Let’s roll call it, shall we?
- Adrian Newey – The actual brain of the operation. The man who basically built the cheat codes. Gone.
- Jonathan Wheatley – Mr. Pitlane himself. Also gone.
- Christian Horner – The man who was Red Bull Racing. Very much gone.
- Helmut Marko – The enforcer, the talent scout, the man who could end your career over breakfast. Gone.
- And now… Gianpiero Lambiase – the human filter between Max and absolute radio anarchy.
At this point, it’s less a team structure and more a clearance sale.
You half expect to see a sign outside the factory:
“Everything must go. Slightly used championship-winning staff. No returns.”
😡 And Then There’s Max…
Which brings us to the slightly angry Dutch elephant in the room.
Max Verstappen is still contracted until 2028.
Technically.
In the same way your gym membership is “technically” a 12-month commitment — until you find the clause that lets you walk out because the treadmill squeaks funny.
Max has clauses. Lots of them.
And more importantly, he has opinions.
One of which — quite loudly stated — is that he doesn’t fancy doing this without GP.
Which is awkward.
Because GP is now… not going to be there.
🤔 So Who Blinked First?
This is where it gets interesting.
Did GP look at the situation — the departures, the instability, the slow unravelling of what used to be a dynasty — and think:
“Yeah… I’m off before this turns into a Netflix documentary.”
Or…
Is this the first proper domino?
The one that tells us Max might already be halfway out the door, suitcase packed, waiting for the right moment to say “cheers lads”?
Because let’s be honest — this doesn’t feel random anymore.
This feels coordinated.
Or at the very least… inevitable.
🟣 Purple Helmet Verdict
Red Bull used to be the place everyone wanted to be.
Now it’s the place everyone seems to be leaving.
They’ve lost:
- The genius
- The leadership
- The structure
- And now the one man who could tell Max to calm down without getting verbally launched into orbit
And if this keeps going?
They might just lose the reason any of it mattered in the first place.
🏁 Final Thought
At this rate, the next Red Bull team radio won’t be strategy calls.
It’ll be someone in the garage going:
“Erm… has anyone actually seen anyone else this morning?”
